My Story

I never planned to teach yoga.
This is how I got here.

My Story

First of all — I’m so glad we connected ! My name is Ayesha, and I’m from Karachi, Pakistan.

I am a devoted wife and mother to three beautiful children. I’m also the Founder of Good Karma. Before any of that, I was a textile artist — until life decided something new for me: YOGA!

I found yoga during one of the hardest periods of my life.

I was caring for my terminally ill father while raising my children in a new country and navigating an invisible illness myself.

From the outside, I looked completely fine. Like I was holding it all together.

Inside, I was barely surviving.

I tried yoga because I had tried almost everything else, and nothing seemed to be working.

I didn’t fall in love with it immediately. But a few months later, I noticed something had changed.

I could breathe better.

That small shift made me curious. I wanted to understand what was changing in me and why.

That curiosity became years of study, hundreds of hours of training and, eventually, a teaching practice of my own.

Yin found me before
I Knew I Needed It.

Funny enough, my first Yin Yoga training happened almost by accident.

I was already signed up for my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and because of some delays, I saw a Yin training happening in my own city.

I knew absolutely nothing about Yin Yoga.

I signed up anyway.

I went on to complete my 200-hour teacher training, continued studying and started teaching classical Hatha Yoga, which I loved.

Then I injured my spine.

I spent weeks in bed, unable to practise the way I normally did. So I started doing Yin in bed.

And it worked for me.

That made me want to understand it properly.

One training led to another teacher, then another, and eventually to teachers who had studied directly with the founders of the practice.

And I just kept learning.

I’m still learning.

The more I learn about Yin,
the more I want to understand.

I think I’ll always be a student of this practice.

MY INTENTION FOR YOU

You Don’t Have to Do More Here.

You don’t have to be flexible.

You don’t have to push yourself into the deepest version of a pose.

And you don’t have to perform.

I believe yoga can be meaningful without asking more of you.

My classes are an invitation to slow down, turn inward and notice what happens when you stop trying so hard to get somewhere.

But the yoga itself is only part of the experience.

I care about how you’re welcomed.

How the room feels.

The little details.

The people you practise alongside.

And whether you feel comfortable enough to simply be yourself.

Because you’re not coming to me just for yoga.

You’re coming for how that hour makes you feel.

You don’t have
to do more here.

You don’t have to be flexible.

You don’t have to push yourself into the deepest version of a pose.

And you don’t have to perform.

I believe yoga can be meaningful without asking more of you.

  • Seen.
  • Cared for.
  • Part of something.
